Lia – Paschalia Spyridou

Lia-Paschalia Spyridou received her BA in Journalism & Mass Communication from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 2000 she obtained an MA in Communication from the University of Westminster in London and in 2009 she was awarded a doctoral degree in new media from the Aristotle University. She worked as a journalist for ten years, taught as an adjunct Lecturer by Law 407/80 at the Journalism & Mass Communication department of the Aristotle University (2005-2007) and participated in several research projects. In 2007 she was appointed Lecturer and Head of the Communication Department at New York College/Thessaloniki (until July 2011). During 2007-2011 she taught as an adjunct Lecturer by Law 407/80 at the University of Macedonia. Currently she is working as appointed Lecturer at the Post Graduate Program Advanced Systems in Computers and Communication of the Aristotle University and as a research associate at the Cyprus University of Technology. Her research interests lie in the fields of online and participatory journalism, interactive forms of communication, digital media and democracy, the impact of social networks on journalism and communication.
